How can I manhandle the body
that my mom gave me?
The body she carried and protected,
the scrapped knees that she kissed?
Destroying the very same
dip hips that she has.
That my sister has.
That my grandmother has.
Like it means nothing,
just a body malfunctioning.
A poorly done construction.
A haunted house.
There are not enough
apologies in the dictionary
for all the damage that I've done.
To my mom: I'm sorry.
